Joe Blogs! Get it?

Dear Snarkhunters,

Is it just me? It could be. My point of view on things has always been rather controversial. Even when the topic is pretty straight forward, I tend to call things how I see them and that can make me unpopular. As my work is in the public eye I have learned to filter my thoughts before sharing my opinion. The media would just love to quote me on something contentious. Anonymity when blogging and posting online is a blessing because if my employer thought that my mind worked this way then I wouldn’t just be unemployed, I’d be unemployable.

When Anthony and Luke invited me to join snarkhunters.com several months ago, I initially declined. I spend my entire waking life shielding my opinions and censoring my thoughts. The press releases and position statements do not reflect what I want to say, or how I feel. Why would I want to blog on a website and have to spend even more time being diplomatic, warm and fuzzy?

This time when I was asked, the offer was sweetened. Anonymity. It does sadden me that in order to be myself I need to wear a mask. I suppose that makes me like Batman. Angry, alone, masked and I feel that my words and actions are for the greater good, even if I cross some lines in the process.

If? Ha. When.

Do you find it ironic that Luke would ask me to write a little biography for the website after offering me anonymity? For someone who doesn’t present as stupid, that was a pretty dumb request Luke.

What can I tell you about myself without giving too much away?

I was born in Australia. I have lived in New Zealand. I am not well travelled and apart from crossing the Tasman like some people catch the bus, I have only been to two other countries.

I am single. I have a dog called Murphy.

I met Anthony and Luke 9 years ago at a pub trivia night.

That’s all I’m telling you.

For now, thank you for allowing me my anonymity which in turn allows me to blog on snarkhunters.com

I hope you read my thoughts, entries and blogs objectively. Comment with counters but justify it with reason not just because you're a bleeding-heart who can't bear the sight of blood or because it makes you sad. I have no time for whiners. I don't mind debate and am happy to justify my opinions. Are you?

Feel free to disagree.

Joe
