International Talk Like A Pirate day is creeping up on 19 September. Much focus on pirates today is on “pirate” dvd’s which apparently are the reason why the Australian Film industry sucks so much (I thought it was the shitty scripts, the bad acting, the inability to make a genuinely funny film, and making films for the four people in Australia that like pointless dramas).
Whilst I think counterfeit dvds pose a massive threat to the film industry, I don’t think pirates are to blame.
After all, if dvds were actually counterfeited by pirates....
“Yes Man” would be called “Arr Man” or “Aye Man”
“ ’Allo ‘Allo” television series would be called “Ahoy Ahoy”
“Flashdance” would be called “ FlashHornpipe”
“Saturday Night Fever” would be called “Saturday Night Scurvy”
“Friends” television series would be called “Mateys” or “Buckos” or “Me Heartys”
